smrtPhone is introducing Phone Number Type Lookup when a user first texts a new phone number. If the number is a landline, an error message will notify you, and the text will not be sent. Phone Number Type Lookup helps users:
- Improve Compliance: Carriers are looking for any evidence that a sender did not get permission to text a number. Texting a landline number is considered a red flag, because it's indicative that you're 'cold' texting without consent.
- Save Money: Though Phone Number Type Lookup does cost a small fee for every number it scrubs (which only happens upon an attempt to text), this only happens once every 90 days. This is far cheaper than paying for texts to landline numbers, which are undeliverable! In the long run, you will save money by only sending deliverable texts.
Phone Number Type Lookup is now a default feature. To view an overview of phone numbers you've texted and their 'type' (mobile, landline, or other), head to your Web App Dashboard > Admin > Phone Number Type Report.
